Jnanabhumi is a dedicated online portal of Government of Andhra Pradesh for the implementation of various scholarship schemes offered by different government departments. Launched in the year 2017, it is a digital platform with the help of which the state government implements and disburses its Pre-Matric, Post-Matric and other scholarship schemes. Earlier, these schemes were implemented through the AP ePass portal. Every year, the state government disburses scholarships worth INR 5,000 Crores to around 17 Lakhs students coming from different segments of the society through the Jnanabhumi portal. At present, the portal enlists pre-matric, post-matric and other scholarship schemes offered by 15 government departments including Social Welfare Department, Tribal Welfare Department, BC Welfare Department, Minority Welfare Department and more. Being the central nervous system of state education and welfare, the Jnanabhumi portal not only covers the scholarship schemes but also looks after the implementation and disbursal of several other educational schemes as well. Post-Matric Scholarship, Andhra Pradesh
With an objective of providing easy access to higher education to all, the government of Andhra Pradesh offers Post-Matric Scholarship for students studying at post-matriculation or post-secondary level. The students coming from SC/ST/BC/Minorities/Kapu/Differently-Abled and EBC communities are eligible to avail benefits under this scheme.
Post-Matric Scholarship, Andhra Pradesh – Key Eligibility
The students who are domiciled in Andhra Pradesh must fulfil the following eligibility conditions to apply for the Post-Matric Scholarship at Jnanabhumi portal –
- The students must be studying at the post-matriculation or post-secondary level (Class 11 to PhD level) in a college affiliated to a recognized Board/University.
- They must belong to SC, ST, BC, Kapu, Minorities, EBC and Differently-abled communities.
- For students coming from SC/ST/Differently-abled communities, the annual family income ceiling is INR 2 Lakhs.
- For students coming from Backward Classes, Kapu and Economically Backward Classes, the annual family income ceiling is INR 1 Lakh.
- For students coming from Minorities communities, the annual family income ceiling is INR 1.5 Lakhs (rural) and INR 2 Lakhs (urban).
Pre-Matric Scholarship, Andhra Pradesh
This scheme aims at reducing the incidence of drop-out in the transition from elementary to secondary stage of education. The government offers variable financial aid to students studying in Classes 5 to 10 and belonging to SC/ST/BC/Disabled communities. The key objective behind this scheme is to improvise the participation of SC/ST/BC/Disabled students in Class 5 to 10 so that they perform well and have progressive growth.
Pre-Matric Scholarship, Andhra Pradesh – Key Eligibility
To be eligible for Pre-Matric Scholarship, Andhra Pradesh, the students must be a domicile of Andhra Pradesh state. Besides this, they need to fulfil the following eligibility conditions to avail financial benefits under this scheme.
- The scholarship is only meant for students coming from SC, ST, BC and Differently-abled communities.
- For students belonging to SC/ST/Disabled community, the scholarship is applicable for studies in Class 5 to 10.
- For students belonging to BC community, the scholarship is only applicable for studies in Class 9 and 10.
- They must be studying in schools that are run by the government, local bodies like Municipalities, Zilla Parishad, Mandal or government-aided schools.
- The annual family income ceiling for SC/ST/BC/Disabled community students is INR 2 Lakhs.
YSR Vidyonnathi Scheme
The YSR Vidyonnathi Scheme is meant for students belonging to SC, ST, BC, EBC, Minority, Kapu and Brahmin community to meet their coaching fee and expenses related to the preparation of Civil Services (including All India Civil Services and State Group Services). Every year, about 65,000 applications are received under this scheme. The eligible students can apply for this scholarship online through Jnanabhumi portal.
Ambedkar Overseas Vidyanidhi Scheme
The Government of Andhra Pradesh has introduced this scheme with the objective of providing suitable financial aid to students coming from SC/ST/BC/EBC/Brahmin/Kapu/Minority communities to pursue higher studies at reputed universities/institutions abroad. The selected students get variable financial assistance under this scheme ranging from INR 10 Lakhs to INR 15 Lakhs (as a grant). In order to be eligible for this scheme, the students need to have an annual family income of less than INR 6 Lakhs from all sources. The applications for this scheme can also be made through the Jnanabhumi portal.
Jnanabhumi – How to apply for scholarships in this portal?
Prior to the introduction of Jnanabhumi portal, the applications for these schemes were invited through the AP ePass portal. However, to ensure transparency and accountability in the scholarship administration, this portal came into existence. The application process to apply for both Post-Matric and Pre-Matric scholarship may vary. Given below is a step-wise description of the application process for both the scholarships.
Post-Matric Scholarship Application through Jnanabhumi
To apply for the post-matric scholarship, eligible students need to follow the below-given steps –
Step 1: Click here to register at the Jnanabhumi portal.
Step 2: Select the academic year and the state in which the student is studying.
Step 3: Select all the fields marked under the Pre-Requirements section and click on the ‘Proceed’ button.

Step 4: Enter the Aadhaar number and proceed further.
Step 5: Provide all necessary details like personal and academic details and upload supporting documents.
Step 6: Fill in the scholarship details and click on ‘Save’ button to save the form.
Step 7: The preview of the completed form will appear on the page. Download the form and take its print out.
Step 8: Sign on the hard copy of the application form and get it signed by the HOD.
Step 9: Upload the scanned copy of the signed application form by logging in to the portal and submit.

Pre-Matric Scholarship Application through Jnanabhumi
To apply for the Pre-Matric scholarship, eligible students can either directly apply online through the Jnanabhumi portal or apply through their school’s principal. Once the scholarship for an academic year is announced, the application link becomes visible on the portal. The students need to complete the online application and submit the completed application as per the guidelines specified. The concerned Hostel Welfare Officer (HWO) looks after all the applications received and confirm their details. Thereafter, the District Welfare Officer releases the scholarship amount.

In case a student wants to correct his/her faulty (wrong) details entered on the portal, he/she need to select ‘No’ for faulty details section.
How to check JVD status in jnanabhumi?
Go to the official website at https://jnanabhumi.ap.gov.in. Navigate to the ‘Login’ option, click on it and enter the Login ID, Password & Captcha code. When the new page opens, click on ‘Application Status’ tab and enter the Application ID. Finally, click on ‘Get Application Status’ and check the progress of the application.
