Dr Ambedkar Scholarship for DNTs, named after the Father of the Indian Constitution, is a centrally-sponsored scholarship scheme of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. However, this scheme is implemented by the State Governments/Union Administrations/Universities/Colleges as State scholarships such as the Dr Ambedkar Scholarship of Chandigarh/Haryana/Tripura. Under this scholarship scheme, the ratio of the funding for scholarship amount between the Centre and the State is 75:25. It caters to Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes (DNTs) that are not included in the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes. The main objective of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to the children belonging to DNTs so that they become socially, economically and educationally empowered.

Dr Ambedkar Scholarship, Haryana
The Government of Haryana runs the Dr Ambedkar Sanshodhit Medhavi Chhattar Sansodhit Yojna scholarship.
Eligibility –
- It benefits students who belong to Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, Nomadic, DNTs, Semi-Nomadic, Vimukti Jati and Tapriwas Jati.
- The applicants must have the domicile of Haryana and be studying in Classes 11 to postgraduation.
Family Income Limit – The annual family income of the candidates must not be more than INR 4,00,000 to be eligible for the scholarship.
Award – Selected candidates are eligible to receive a scholarship amount of INR 8,000 to INR 12,000 per annum.

Dr Ambedkar Scholarship, Chandigarh
The Education Department of Chandigarh Administration implements this scholarship.
Eligibility –
- The students must belong to Economically Backward Class (EBC).
- The candidates must be permanent residents of Chandigarh
- The applicants must be pursuing post-secondary-level education in a recognised institution.
Family Income Limit – The annual family income of the applicants must not exceed INR 1,00,000.
Award – financial assistance (maintenance fees, tuition fees, compulsory non-refundable fees and other miscellaneous charges).

Dr Ambedkar Scholarship, Tripura
The Directorate of Higher Education under the Government of Tripura runs this scholarship.
Eligibility –
- The applicants must be domiciled in Tripura state.
- The candidates must belong to the Economically Backward Class (EBC).
- The applicants must be pursuing education at a post-matriculation level from a government-recognised institution.
Family Income Limit – The annual family income of the candidates must not be more than INR 2,50,000.
Award – Financial assistance in the form of maintenance allowance, compulsory non-refundable fees and other miscellaneous charges.

Besides the scholarships mentioned above, there’s also the Dr Ambedkar Scholarship Portal of Punjab which offers information about post-matric scholarships for SC and OBC students of Punjab state. the Government of Punjab manages this portal and provides scholarship application solutions to students. To apply for the scholarships listed on this portal, the students must be from the domiciles of Punjab state and belong to the categories of SC and OBC.
