PROMYS India (Program in Mathematics for Young Scientists)* 2024 is an opportunity offered in partnership with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, for students in Classes 9 to 12. The selected students will be awarded a full scholarship covering all tuition, housing, and meals for the six weeks of the programme.
*PROMYS India is a residential mathematics summer program for students in India. Participants study and attend lectures on campus, eat meals together, and are housed in gender-separated housing areas at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru.

Deadline01-Feb-2024 Eligibility To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- be at least 15 years old by 5th May 2024
- be in secondary or higher secondary school in Class 9 to 12 [or Class 11, 12, or Pre-University Course (PUC)]
- have completed (or are currently in) Class 9 before the start of the programme
- be attending government-funded schools/government-aided private schools/unaided private/independent schools/sixth form colleges/home schools/other types of secondary and higher secondary schools across India
Note:-
- Students are still eligible to apply if they are just completing their final year of higher secondary school (or taking a gap year) but have not yet begun their university studies.
- Students who are already attending university are not eligible to be first-year students (though they may be eligible to apply to be undergraduate counsellors).
Benefits The selected students will be awarded full scholarships covering all tuition, housing, and meal costs for the six weeks of the programme. Applicants can also apply for additional need-based funding for travel and laundry.

- Teacher recommendation form to be submitted by a mathematics teacher or mentor
- School Report Card(s) - for all years from Class 9 and above (from Class 8 and above for students applying in Class 9) [Note:- Copies of transcripts issued by the school are fine; it is not required that transcripts be from the Educational Boards. Homeschooled students should upload a description of the studies undertaken.]
How can you apply? Eligible applicants can apply for the opportunity by following the below-mentioned steps:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required details to 'Register'. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID)
Step 3: Navigate to the 'To Apply' button at the bottom of the page and click on it.
Step 4: Navigate to 'Create an Account' at the bottom of the page and click on it. (Note:- If the applicant already has an account, then sign in using a valid email ID)
Step 5: Fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents and submit.

Selection Criteria
The selection of the candidates will be based on the following criteria:
- An applicant’s solutions to a set of challenging mathematical problems
- Teacher's recommendation
- Secondary school marksheet (grade report or transcript) covering all years from Class 9 and above (from Class 8 and above for students applying in Class 9)
- Applicant's responses relating to interest in the programme
The mathematicians who assess solutions to the application problems assess applications holistically, taking into account the mathematical opportunities available to the applicant and evidence of characteristics such as mathematical creativity, originality, clarity of thought, precision of expression, and perseverance.

- Lectures, discussions, and problem sets at PROMYS India are all in English. Applicants should possess English language skills sufficient to enable full participation.
- Students may not apply to PROMYS India and PROMYS at Boston University in the U.S. for the same summer. They may apply to only one.
