Pre-Matric Scholarships for ST Students (Class 9 & 10), Meghalaya 2023-24 is an initiative of the Department of Education, Government of Meghalaya, to provide financial assistance to ST students of the state who are studying in Class 9 and 10. The selected students will receive a monthly scholarship of ₹350 and other grants.

Deadline09-Feb-2024 Eligibility To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- be domiciled in Meghalaya
- belong to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category
- be a full-time student of Class 9 and 10 in a government school or a school recognised by the government or a Central/State Board of Secondary Education (CBSE/SBSE)
- have an annual parent(s)/guardian(s) income of not more than ₹2,50,000
Note:- Applicants should not be receiving any other centrally-funded pre-matric scholarship.
Benefits The selected scholars will receive the following benefits:-
Components Day scholars Hostellers Scholarship for 10 months (₹ per month) 150 350 Books and Ad-hoc Grant (₹ per annum) 750 1,000 Additional allowances for students with disabilities studying in private unaided schools:-
Under this scheme, ST students studying in Class 9 and 10 in government, local body and government aided schools will receive ₹3,000. However, students in un-aided schools are not covered under the ‘Inclusive Education of the Disabled at Secondary Stage' (IEDSS). Therefore, ST students with disabilities, studying in Class 9 and 10 in private un-aided recognised schools, will be eligible for allowances as follows:-
Allowances for students with disabilities studying in Private unaided Schools Amount (In ₹) Monthly reader allowance for blind students 160 Monthly transport allowance for students with disabilities (as defined in the Persons with Disabilities Act 1995), if such students do not reside in the hostel which is within the premises of the educational institution 160 Monthly escort allowance for severely disabled (i.e. with 80% or higher disability) day scholars/students with low extremity disability 160 A monthly helper allowance is admissible to any of the hostels willing to extend help to a severely orthopedically handicapped student residing in the hostel of an educational institution who may need the assistance of a helper 160 Monthly coaching allowance to mentally retarded and mentally ill students 240 Note:- The disability as defined under the Persons with Disabilities (equal opportunities, Protection of rights and full participation Act, 1995) Act has to be certified by competent medical authority of the State Govt./UT Administration.
Documents - A passport-size photograph
- One attested copy of academic transcripts including degree, certificate, etc.
- A valid caste certificate duly signed by an authorised Revenue Officer (RO), not below the rank of Tehsildar
- An income declaration by the self-employed parent(s)/guardian(s)
- A receipt in acknowledgementof the scholarship in the previous year (if applicable)
How can you apply? Eligible students can apply for the scholarship through the following steps:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' link below.
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
Step 3: Navigate to the 'Applicant Corner' and click on the 'New Registration' tab.
Step 4: Read the details carefully, tick the checkbox, and click on the 'Continue' button.
Step 5: Enter mobile number, captcha code, and OTP, then submit.
Step 6: Fill in the required details and click on 'Save & Register' to complete the registration process.
Step 7: Now click on the 'Fresh Application' tab and log in using the application ID and password.
Step 8: Fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents, and submit the application.Note:- All the applicants are advised to fill out the form correctly, no changes can be made once submitted. The applicants are also advised to fill in only one application as multiple applications will cancel the form.

Terms and Conditions
- The scholarship will be given for only one year. A student will not receive a scholarship for repeating a class.
- In an academic year, the scholarship will be payable for 10 months.
- A student receiving a scholarship in Class 9 will be able to renew it for Class 10, subject to good conduct and regularity in attendance.
- The income certificate will be taken only once which will be at the time of admission to the course.
- The Government of India at its own discretion can change the provisions of this scheme at any time.
- The candidates living in any state other than the state of domicile will be awarded a scholarship by the state they belong to and will submit their applications to the competent authority in that state.
- The scholarship is payable from 1st April or from the month of admission, whichever is later, to the month in which the examinations are completed, at the end of the academic year (including maintenance allowance during holidays), provided that if the scholar secures admission after the 20th day of a month, the amount will be paid from the month following the month of admission.
For Renewal:
- If a student qualifies for scholarship renewal, the new award will begin the month after their previous scholarship period ends. In other words, there will be no gap in financial support for deserving students who continue to meet the program's requirements.
- Scholarship disbursements will be managed by the recipient's respective state or union territory administration. Each department will follow their established procedures for handling such payments.
- Any student who obtains this scholarship through false statements faces severe consequences. Their scholarship will be promptly terminated, and the awarded amount may be recovered at the discretion of the relevant state government or union territory administration. Additionally, the student will be permanently blacklisted and barred from receiving any future scholarships under any scheme.
- If a student receiving this scholarship discontinues their studies for any reason within the awarded year, they may be required to refund the scholarship amount at the discretion of the State Government or UT Administration.
