Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC Students of Class IX and X, Chandigarh 2023-24 is an initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, to provide financial assistance to SC students of Class 9 and 10. The scholarship aims to provide educational support and minimise the incidence of drop-out in the transition from the elementary to the secondary stage of education. The selected students will receive a scholarship of up to ₹525 per month for 10 months and other benefits.

Deadline05-Feb-2024 Eligibility To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- be a domicile of Chandigarh
- belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category
- be studying in Class 9 or 10 in a government school or a school recognised by the Government or a Central/State Board of Secondary Education
- have an annual parent(s)/guardian income of not more than ₹2,50,000 from all sources
- not be availing benefit under any other educational scholarship to study in Class 9 and 10
Benefits The selected students will receive the following benefits:-
Benefit Day Scholars Hostellers Scholarship for 10 months (in ₹ per month) 225 525 Books and Adhoc Grant (in ₹ per annum) 750 1,000 Additional allowances for SC students with disabilities studying in private unaided schools:-
Allowance Amount (in ₹) Monthly reader allowance for blind students 160 Monthly transport allowance for students with disabilities (if not residing in the hostel within the premises of the educational institution) 160 Monthly escort allowance for severely disabled (i.e. with 80% or higher disability) day scholars/students with low extremity disability 160 Monthly helper allowance admissible to any hostel employee assisting severely orthopedically handicapped students 160 Monthly coaching allowance for mentally retarded and mentally ill students 240 Note:- The disability as defined under the schedule read with clause (zc) of section z of the Right of the Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
Documents - Aadhaar card
- Domicile certificate
- A passport-size photograph of the student with the student's signature
- Academic certificates, diploma, degree, etc.
- Caste certificate duly signed by an authorised Revenue Officer (RO), not below the rank of Tehsildar
- Family income certificate (Note:- If self-employed, an income declaration in the form of a certificate issued by a Revenue Officer (RO), not below the rank of Tehsildar)
- Receipt acknowledging the scholarship in the previous year (for renewal, if applicable)
How can you apply? Eligible students can apply for the scholarship through the following steps:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' link below.
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note: If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
Step 3: Navigate to 'Applicant Corner' and click on the 'New Registration' tab.
Step 4: Read the details carefully, tick the checkbox and click on the 'Continue' button.
Step 5: Select the respective Aadhaar option, enter mobile number, captcha code, and OTP, then submit.
Step 6: Fill in the required details and click on 'Save & Register' to complete the registration process.
Step 7: Now click on the 'Fresh Application' tab and log in using the application ID and password.
Step 8: Fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents, and submit the application.Note: All the applicants are advised to fill the form correctly, no changes can be made once submitted. The applicants are also advised to fill in only one application as multiple applications will cancel the form.

Terms and Conditions
- The scholarship is payable from the 1st of April or from the month of admission, whichever is later, until the month in which the examinations are completed, marking the end of the academic year. If a scholar secures admission after the 20th day of a month, the payment will commence from the month following the month of admission.
- The state government/union territory administration will disburse the scholarship in the following manner:
- Students studying in Centre/State/UT Government Educational Bodies.
- Students studying in government-aided schools.
- Students studying in private schools affiliated to the Centre/State.
- Students studying in other institutions.
Scholarship renewal and continuation guidelines:
- For scholarship renewal, payment starts from the month following the last paid month in the previous year.
- Scholarship renewal depends upon satisfactory progress and conduct.
- Obtaining a scholarship through false statements results in an immediate cancellation, with the recovery of the paid amount.
- If a student discontinues studies during the year, they may need to refund the scholarship amount per state/UT government discretion.
- Candidates are required to submit a completed application to the head of their current or last attended institution/school.
- The scheme's provisions are subject to change at any time at the discretion of the Government of India.
