Kalia Scholarship for ST/SC/OBC/SEBC/GENERAL/EBC Communities, Odisha 2023-24 is an opportunity offered by the Department of Agriculture & Farmer's Empowerment, Government of Odisha, to ST, SC, OBC, SEBC, General, and EBC category students of Odisha for pursuing professional/technical higher studies within the state. This scholarship aims to provide financial aid for higher education to the children of small or marginal farmers, actual cultivators, and landless agriculture households. The selected students will receive financial assistance up to ₹77,895 per year and other benefits.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible, a candidate must:-

    • be an Indian national
    • be a domicile of Odisha
    • belong to the General, Scheduled Tribe (ST), Scheduled Caste (SC), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Socially and Economically Backward Classes (SEBC), and Economically Backward Classes (EBC) category
    • be studying professional/technical courses like Medical, Engineering, Agriculture and Allied, Nursing, Diploma, and different trades in ITI government/private/premier institution
    • be children of a beneficiary under KALIA
    • have secured 50% attendance in the academic session
    • have cleared the previous examination

     

    Following students are not eligible for this scholarship:-

    • Students who have taken admission on a self-financing or cost-sharing basis.
    • Applicants who are receiving benefits from other scholarships.
    • Students pursuing a professional course for the second time. 
    • Applicants studying in private institutions outside Odisha.

    Additionally, students will receive mess/hostel fees of ₹1,200 per month for 10 months for UG, PG, Ph.D., and premier government institutes, and ₹1,000 for 10 months for diploma, ITI, and polytechnic students of government or private institutions.

    Note:- The scholarship amount shall be disbursed according to the actual fees charged by the institution, limited to the amounts listed above for the respective courses.

    • Copy of passbook of parent's bank account with the account number and IFSC code of bank branch (parent must be registered under KALIA scheme)
    How can you apply?

    Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship using the steps listed below:-
    Step 1:
    Click the ‘Apply Now’ button below.
    Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button on the right-hand side of the dashboard and fill in the required details to 'Register'. (Note:- If already registered, log in using the registered email ID.)
    Step 3: Navigate to the 'Registration' tab, tick the check box, and click on the 'I Agree' button.
    Step 4: Read carefully and enter the required details to register.
    Step 5: After successful registration, log in with valid credentials.
    Step 6: Provide all necessary details like personal, academic eligibility, and bank information and click on the 'Save' button to draft the information
    Step 7: Click on the 'Next' to save and proceed with the scholarship form.
    Step 8: Upload the relevant documents and 'Submit' the application form.

Selection Criteria

The selection of the candidate is based on the eligibility criteria and merit.

  • Students must maintain a minimum annual attendance of 50% to be eligible for the scholarship benefits.
  • The parent(s) of the KALIA beneficiary and possess an active bank account with Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) enabled in their name.
  • Students attending government institutions will have their tuition fees, annual fees, hostel charges, and other applicable fees (excluding refundable deposits) credited directly to their accounts.
  • Scholarship disbursements for students enrolled in private institutes within the state will align with the respective course fee structures.
  • Ph.D. students in technical/professional fields at government institutions will receive scholarship funds based on the institute's prevailing fee structure. Any external fellowship or assistance will be deducted from the institute's recommended course fees, with the balance provided as a KALIA scholarship.
  • Scholarship funds will be directly transferred to students' accounts via DBT.
  • Institutions must adhere to departmental/institutional guidelines for refunds and penalties. Refundable security deposits are not considered part of the scholarship and are the student's responsibility.
  • Scholarships may be cancelled if students provide false information, discontinue their studies, or receive other scholarships.
  • Oversight committees established under the KALIA scheme will monitor implementation and recommend necessary changes. Additional members may be invited with the chairperson's approval.
  • The department will actively prevent misuse of scheme benefits and deter false registrations by private institutions.
