AICTE – Swanath Scholarship Scheme (Technical Diploma/Degree) 2023-24 is an initiative of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to provide financial assistance to students pursuing a technical degree or diploma from recognized institutions. The scholarship is open to students who are either orphans, whose parents have died due to COVID-19, or who are wards of armed forces and central paramilitary forces personnel martyred in action. The selected students will be awarded up to ₹50,000 per annum.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible, an applicant must:

    • be an Indian national
    • be a COVID-19 impacted ward i.e., either or both parents died due to COVID-19 OR 
    • be a ward of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces martyred in action (Shaheed)
    • be enrolled in a course at degree/diploma level in regular mode (in 1st/2nd/3rd/4th year) at an AICTE-approved institution
    • be not be a recipient of any of the central/state government/AICTE-sponsored scholarship
    • have a family income of less than ₹8,00,000 per annum
    Benefits

    The selected candidates will receive ₹50,000 per annum for every year of study as a lump sum amount towards payment of college fees, purchase of computer, stationeries, books, equipment, software, etc. No other additional grant will be payable in lieu of hostel charges, and medical charges, etc.

    Note:-

    • In case a student is currently studying in the 2nd /3rd/4th year at degree level the duration of the scholarship will be reduced to 1/2/3 year respectively.
    • Similarly, for students currently studying in the 2nd /3rd year at diploma level, the duration of the scholarship will be reduced to 1/2 year respectively.
    Documents
    • Bonafide certificate issued by the institution
    • Class 12 or equivalent marksheet
    • Class 10 marksheet
    • Caste/category certificate (if applicable)
    • Current year income certificate issued by the competent authority [For wards of armed forces and central paramilitary forces martyred in action (shaheed)]
    • Death certificate of father/mother or both explicitly mentioning that the death was due to COVID-19 [For candidates whose either or both parent(s) died due to COVID-19]
    • Death certificates of both father and mother (if available) [For orphan candidates]
    How can you apply?

    Eligible students can apply for the scholarship through the following steps:

    Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' link below. 
    Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note: If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
    Step 3: Navigate to 'Applicant Corner ' and click on 'New Registration' tab.
    Step 4: Read the details carefully, tick the checkbox and click on the 'Continue' button. 
    Step 5: Enter mobile number, captcha code, and OTP, then submit.  
    Step 6: Fill in the required details and click on 'Save & Register' to complete the registration process. 
    Step 7: Now click on the 'Fresh Application' tab and log in using the application ID and password.
    Step 8: Fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents and submit the application.

    Note:- All the applicants are advised to fill out the form correctly; no changes can be made once it is submitted. The applicants are also advised to fill out only one application, as multiple applications will cancel the form.

Selection Criteria

The selection of candidates will be carried out solely based on merit of qualifying examination to pursue the degree/diploma course from any of the AICTE-approved institutions i.e. based on percentage of marks obtained in Class 12 or equivalent examination.

Method of Resolving Ties:-

  • Percentage of marks in Class 10 examination: In case the qualifying examination percentile does not break ties then a higher percentage of marks in the Class 10 examination will be ranked higher.
  • Age: In case the Class 10 examination percentile does not break ties then the candidate of older age will be ranked higher.
  • Annual family income: If the above methods do not break ties then the candidate with a lower annual family income will be ranked higher.
Terms and Conditions
  • The student who fails to get promoted to the next class/level would forfeit the scholarship.
  • The scholarship will be renewed for the next year of study on receipt of renewal through National Scholarship Portal by submitting a passing certificate/marksheet with a letter from the Head of the Institution on the online portal.
  • The gap period between the year of passing the qualifying examination and the session of admission in the diploma course should not be more than two years.
  • Incomplete applications will be summarily rejected. Only verified online applications will be considered for the award of scholarship.
  • The scholarship will not be awarded to a candidate who failed/dropped out in a subsequent year.
  • Aadhaar number is mandatory for applying for this scheme. Applications will not be accepted without the Aadhaar number of the candidate.
  • For converting the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) to percentage, multiplying factor will be 9.5 i.e. to convert the CGPA into percentage; CGPA X 9.5 will give the percentage.
  • In case both CGPA & total marks are given in the marksheet, total marks will be considered for determining the percentage.
